As we draw closer to September, rumors are starting to circulate about the next generation of iPhone and what we can expect, or want, to see. A recent report suggests that there will be some significant hardware changes and perhaps a much talked about 4” version of the latest iPhone. In theory, the next iPhones should be the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus but it would seem that there are going to be enough changes to warrant going straight to the iPhone 7 instead. Ming Chi-Kuo, analyst at KGI Securities made this prediction some time ago and has now come up with a list of 11 features that he thinks will be on the next iPhone:
- Force Touch Technology
Expected to be the big feature of the Phone 7, Force Touch could also be the one thing that holds up supply. It enhances the user experience by improving input methods, and supporting handwritten signatures, which will be useful to the expansion of the iPhone into the commercial market
- Same Sizes Screens
The screens will remain the same size – 4.7” and 5.5” – as will the resolution. There will NOT be a 4” model
- Upgraded Camera
The camera will be upgraded to a 12 megapixel affair .
- Extra Microphone
An extra mic will be placed near to the speaker for better quality
- New Color
A new color, Rose Gold, will be added to match the Apple Watch .
- New Processor
The A9 processor will be integrated along with 2 GB LPDDR4 RAM
- No More Bendgate
Different materials and internal changes will be used to stop the bending issue
- Sapphire Lens Covers
Provided issues with drop tests can be resolved, a small number of iPhone 7 Plus models will have a sapphire lens cover
Apple will include support for gesture controls
- Touch ID Recognition Rate
This will be the focus of improvements in a bid to further promote Apple Pay
- Production Will Start in August
Ming Chi-Kuo’s final prediction s that Apple will put the new iPhone into mass production in mid-to-late August and that 90 million units will ship this year, with the 4.7” iPhone 7 beating the iPhone 7 Plus with a ratio of 2:1
What are you hoping to see on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus and do you think these predictions are accurate ?
