NSA Whistleblower says iPhone’s have Hidden iOS Spyware

Could it be that your Apple iPhone is hiding a piece of spyware ? Spyware that can collect and collate information about you without your knowledge ? According the Edward Snowden, the NSA whistleblower, the iPhone is perfectly capable of activating a piece of spyware hidden within it that, essentially, spies on the owner of the device. Over the years, with all the jailbreak tools and beta testing going on, developers have dug their way deep into the iOS code and have not managed to find any kind of software or spyware that could do this though.

Snowden’s lawyer is Anatoly Kucharen and he said, in a recent interview with RIA Novosti, the Russian news agency, that his client only uses a simple phone, refusing to use an iPhone because of this spyware. He says that the special software activates itself and gathers the information on the user without any buttons being pressed and Snowden considers this a breach of security.

Now, Edward Snowden clearly has access to a lot of information that we don’t. He has already published files, stolen from the NSA that let the cat out of the bag for the British intelligence agency. According to the documents, GCHQ has tracked iPhone owners in the past by using their UDID number to determine who they are, who they speaking to and what about. This follows hot on the heels of an announcement from the UK Prime Minister that he is considering a blanket ban on all Message apps that use encryption. Nothing has shown up in the Snowden documents that indicates Apple has a spyware installed on the iPhone so it’s a case of watching this space to see if either Snowden or his lawyer come up with any new information in the next few days.

  1. To be honest, believing anybody has privacy on this world is being incredibly naive.

    If you have nothing to hide, then you shouldn’t care for privacy invasion
