It’s a busy time for Apple at the moment. Not only are they, and the developers, working hard on getting iOS 7 ready for public release, there’s also the brand new desktop software, OS X Mavericks 10.9. Over the years, Apple have added a fair few iOS features to OS X , more so on the current one, Mountain Lion, than are being seen on Mavericks at the moment. So, Stu Crew, a designer, has come up with a few ideas of what Mavericks could look like if given an iOS makeover.

In the past, Apple has been the subject of some criticism because of the static nature of iOS – it hasn’t changed much since its inception. All of the criticism was answered when iOS 7 was revealed earlier this year at WWDC 2013. Instead of the normal skeuomorphic look, we got a flat, almost 2-D like appearance. We got more vibrancy and a much cleaner, more user-friendly interface.
It should have been a natural progression to design OS X Mavericks in the same way, shouldn’t it? Many of the iOS apps work on OS X and they work well. However, it doesn’t look as if Mavericks is going to be subject to the same overhaul as the mobile software.
